Road Safety Week is a community event in New Zealand promoted by Brake as an opportunity to raise awareness about road safety on a local level.
During the 2016 calendar year there were:
286 fatal road crashes
9,682 injury crashes
328 deaths
12,456 people injured
Casualty rates for 2016 were:
0.9 deaths per 10,000 vehicles
34 injuries per 10,000 vehicles
7.0 deaths per 100,000 population
265 injuries per 100,000 population
As well as the road crash statistics from CAS, Motor Vehicle Crashes in New Zealand includes national hospital, breath and blood alcohol, road user behavior and comparative international statistics, which relate to road crashes.
